The Grange residential home is set in over ten acres of beautiful, landscaped gardens extending down to the river thames.
An elegant listed building, having originally been built around 1880, and extended in 1996, we have just 32 rooms to ensure we can continue to provide the family ethos care we pride ourselves on.
Our care home has spacious, comfortable bedrooms for 32 residents.
All our rooms have a 24-hour call system, giving peace of mind, day or night. There are assisted bathrooms and wheelchair-accessible shower rooms close to every room.
Residents are welcome to bring their own personal belongings such as furniture, electronics, photographs and pictures to make their room feel more familiar and homely.
Our activities coordinators focus on supporting quality of life for each resident. They organise a varied range of activities including music and movement, seated exercises, painting, gardening, visiting entertainers together with visits to nearby attractions in Reading and beyond.
They also arrange activities to celebrate special occasions including birthdays, Mother's Day, Easter and Christmas.
Dianne Downard, Home Manager of The Grange, has extensive experience with Goring Care Homes. Starting as a Care Assistant, she progressed through roles including chef and Assistant Manager. After successfully managing our sister home Lyndhurst, Dianne returned to The Grange in 2023, bringing comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of home operations.
We offer a wide range of services including 24-hour residential care, medication management, physical therapy, and recreational activities.
Our goal is to provide our residents with the highest level of care and comfort.
Set adjacent to the River Thames and in several acres of secure grounds, our care home is a peaceful, restful place surrounded by nature. Expansive windows and doors make it feel light and spacious.
Our communal lounge is the hub for our numerous activities. There are several lounge areas, a dining room and hairdressing salon.
Our terrace is a popular place to soak up the sunshine and residents can always find a peaceful part of the garden in which to relax. Our large garden also features a pond with ducks, potting shed and several patio spaces.
Food and drink are an important part of our residents’ days. Our kitchen team work closely with residents to accommodate any specific preferences and dislikes, dietary and allergy requirements or cultural/spiritual needs.
The varied menus always include healthy, wholesome, appetising food, with snacks and drinks available anytime. Residents can also entertain their family and friends in the additional dining area.
Our home offers private single and double rooms with comfortable amenities to make our residents feel at home. We also have several lounges for socialising, activities and relaxing.
Our brand-new minibus, which arrived in July 2024, helps our residents stay connected with the local community and enjoy greater independence. Whether it's scenic drives, visits to local attractions, shopping trips, or group outings, the minibus offers a safe and comfortable way for them to experience new adventures and social activities. We're excited to enrich their lives beyond the care home and enhance their quality of life.
